Photo gallery: Specialty wine shop unveils new experiential store design

Landor Associates, a strategic brand consulting and design firm, has announced its retail brand experience design for Fine Wine & Good Spirits is being used in the organization’s third store opening in Philadelphia. The first store, which opened in New Hope, Pa., in August, saw a nearly 30 percent increase in sales due in part to the new design.

According to the company, the re-design draws inspiration from libraries, artisanal markets and gathering places where friends and families naturally engage and learn. The centerpiece to this strategy is an in-store table that acts as a customer service area and checkout counter, with an additional space for tasting and education.

"We’re very excited to see our work has provided such immediate results to our partners at Fine Wine & Good Spirits," said Richard Ford, executive creative director at Landor Associates. "The work we do in retail design is always a comprehensive exercise; knowing that customers are engaged and benefiting from the new design is especially rewarding when the goal was to shift the focus back to them."

The new design of the stores has a strong sustainability element as well. Landor’s design specifications call for sustainable lighting, eco-friendly materials, and holistic fixtures, making for a warm and inviting space. In addition, visibility of items has been improved by creating clear lines-of-sight for customers and space on shelf for comparison-shopping.
