Tuesday will mark the launch of The Hunt — a beta Web app that gamifies retail, sfgate.com reported.
Users of the application post a photo of an apparel item they wish to purchase and then an army of about 60,000 volunteer 'hunters' will hit the streets in search of an item matching the one in the photo. If users buy that match, the hunter gets a point.
The founder, Tim Winegarten, hopes to make shopping more fun than "Angry Birds" — "it seems to give girls this sense of altruism and expertise — shopping for friends already is a game for them; this just gives them a platform."
