Motivated by the attrition caused by the Amazon Kindle, not to mention the impending cultural tidal wave that is the iPad, Borders announced in a conference call on Thursday that it is on track to launch its own digital bookstore this spring.

The Borders e-reader software would work with multiple devices, including the iPad, and will launch with 2 million titles, according to the Associated Press.
