Ace Hardware is just one company using IP geotargeting to create a local experience for visitors to its Web site. By identifying the shopper’s IP address, the technology determines where the shopper is located and can customize the site accordingly. Ace Hardware’s site shows nearby stores in the area without the need for the visitor to type in an address. This feature shows the technology’s potential not only to enhance the user’s Web experience, but also to result in increased foot traffic in brick-and-mortar locations.
