Zoom Systems, the San Francisco-based provider of luxury-good vending machines, is poised to increase its U.S. and Japanese market presence. Customers can't get enough of the chance to purchase iPods, name-brand digital cameras and Rosetta Stone software via the ZoomShops "automated retail stores." Product returns were an early concern, but Zoom Systems' policy of making good on defective products has converted many skeptics.
