Forbes: While women are cutting back on discretionary purchases, men are still buying. According to the NPD Group, a retail market research firm, sales in men's apparel increased 1.6 percent in July, while women's sales actually dropped 4.1 percent. The research shows opportunity for retailers, which can now capitalize on a group they once largely ignored. And one of the ways retailers are targeting male shoppers it is by offering more than just clothes, but an overall "manly" lifestyle.
