U.K. retailers get boost in ATM volume

(Belfast, Ireland) Channel4.com: Retailers in the United Kingdom have received a boost, with news that more than Ã‚Â£3.2 billion (U.S. $6.5 billion) has already been withdrawn from U.K. ATMs this month. Between Dec. 1 and Dec. 10, ATM cash withdrawals are Ã‚Â£140 million (U.S. $286.4 million) higher than the same period last year, the company that runs the country's ATM network says. According to the Link Interchange Network, which runs the majority of the U.K.'s cash machines, average daily withdrawals are up by seven percent from November. In 2006, they were only up by 5.5 percent from November to December.
