Unified Grocers, the largest retailer-owned grocery cooperative in the western United States, now recommends its retail customers consider Agilence’s POS video auditing solution. Announced in a press release, the agreement between the two companies gives Unified’s customers access to Agilence’s Hawkeye software — focused on providing fast, effective and real-time auditing of point-of-sale scan transactions to help retailers increase sales and minimize losses.
As part of the services Unified offers independent grocers, the cooperative provides retailers with technology that helps them operate more efficiently. Agilence’s patented item-level synchronization software pulls data directly from the point-of-sale system and marries the data with video in real-time. The data for each individual item scan and key punch is perfectly linked to its associated video image. The instantly visible video for each suspect line-item enables retailers to view 50 times more transactions per day, allowing them to detect issues immediately, before they cause considerable losses.
“With the grocery industry operating on such tight profit margins, it is important for retailers of all sizes to implement technology that can quickly uncover operational errors, promotional fraud and other systemic issues that impact the bottom line,” said Derek Rodner, vice president of product strategy, Agilence. “Working with Unified, we can help independent grocers address their challenges.”
According to the Global Retail Theft Barometer, retail losses approached $115 billion in 2009. Agilence’s solution helps grocers increase revenue and decrease margin gap by identifying point-of-sale errors that otherwise go undetected with existing technologies.
