Austin pharmacy testing iBeacon marketing

Shelfbucks Inc., provider of an iBeacon-based promotion platform for retail stores, announced it has finalized the roll out of its solution in Austin's landmark Tarrytown Pharmacy, one of 3,500 stores in the Health Mart national pharmacy chain.

According to the companies, shoppers browsing the pharmacy can interact with Shelfbucks using their iPhone or Android smartphones and instantly receive real-time offers and coupons on nearby products via the retailer's app. Shoppers can then immediately redeem their special offers at the cashier, foregoing coupon clipping, online research or showrooming, while saving time and enjoying a superior shopping experience.

Mark Newberry, who, together with his wife Leslie, is third-generation owner of the Tarrytown Pharmacy, explained that Shelfbucks is an extension of his pharmacy’s history of commitment to serving its West Austin clientele.

"Tarrytown Pharmacy has been an anchor of our community for more than 70 years because my family and I have always focused on the needs of our customers, most of whom we know by name," he said. "Shelfbucks is yet another way that we deliver personalized service, offer the best possible deals on the products our customers prefer, and create daily shopping experiences that strengthen long-term loyalty."

Retail and brand executives from around the country will tour the Shelfbucks Tarrytown Pharmacy installation next month during SXSW 2014, one of the country's leading conferences for the introduction of technology innovations. Shelfbucks is a finalist for the SXSW Interactive Accelerator competition in the enterprise and big data category.
