According to DigitalTrends.com, Netflix offered an account credit to its customers for an outage on its website that lasted more than an hour on Tuesday, making it impossible for users to instantly stream content.
“Recently you may have had trouble instantly watching TV episodes or movies due to technical issues,” Netflix said in an email to customers. “We are sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused.”
Netflix is making amends by offering a 3 percent credit toward customers’ next monthly bill. For users with the $7.99 monthly streaming-only subscription, the credit amounts to a little more than $0.20. Users will need to click on a link within the email notification in order to take advantage of the refund; it will not be applied automatically.
Although the compensation may not seem like much, if all of Netflix’s users cashed in on the refund offer, it could potentially cost Netflix more than $4 million.
