NGA certifies four vendors with 'CART Registered' status

Feb. 6, 2014

The National Grocers Association has announced that four business solution providers have gained "CART Registered for NGA" status as offering benefits for independent retailer members of the association.

According to the association, the designation comes as a result of field-testing each company's products or services by several NGA retailers. With the designation, all NGA members can access and review detailed case studies to learn more about each company's services and solutions.

"The 'CART Registered for NGA' designation lets NGA members know that the company provides a service or solution that is of potential benefit, based upon case studies in actual retail settings," said NGA president and CEO Peter J. Larkin.

The four companies gaining the "CART Registered for NGA" status are:

Balance Innovations, which offers customized cash management and reconciliation programs for independent retailers. Its services range from automated deposit and check cashing, guided balancing and rebuilding of tills, improved self-checkout balancing, and real-time integration of POS systems. Three independents, Nugget Markets, Coborn's and Martin's Supermarkets, used Balance Innovations' solutions and each reported significant gains in cash management productivity and reduced labor costs.

FMS Solutions, a financial service provider focused on serving independent grocers, offers outsourced financial services specifically tailored for smaller-scale grocers, and a companion software program for large-sized operations. Among its services are accounting and payroll, tax screening and benchmarking reports. Field tests at two retailers, Nugget Markets and Wayfield Foods, indicated that FMS' programs improved ROI while also giving each company a clearer view of its financial and operating performance.

POS Tuning, a display shelf industry partner based in Germany, offers shelf pusher solutions, commonplace in European grocery stores, which maximize point-of-sale efficiencies and lower maintenance costs. Its shelving was installed in two Niemann Foods stores and over six months, results indicated that POS Tuning's systems offered tangible benefits ranging from reduced labor costs to improved sales in certain product categories.

Sterilox Fresh, a business division of PuriCore Inc., offers a broad-spectrum cut flower biocidal formulation, called FloraFresh, that is designed to keep water in flower displays clear and eliminate bacterial buildup on the vases and tubs that hold and display flowers. Results from Roche Brothers stores, one for testing and the second for control, indicate that FloraFresh improves bucket water quality while reducing labor and maintenance costs.
