Sears offering curbside pick-up

Feb. 12, 2014

Sears has announced that it is offering customers the ability to place mobile orders for products and receive them at the store within five minutes, without ever leaving their car.

"The In-Vehicle Pickup option takes our 'Free Store Pickup — Ready in 5' guarantee even further and out to the parking lot," said Leena Munjal, senior vice president, Member Experience and Integrated Retail, Sears Holdings in a press release. "In-Vehicle Pickup on this scale is an industry first and another example of how we are constantly innovating and adding benefits that make shopping a more convenient experience for our members."

The pick-up program is tied to Sears' hybrid mobile shopping/loyalty app, Shop Your Way. Customers place orders on their mobile device as usual, then select In-Vehicle Pickup at checkout. According to the company, the Shop Your Way app also contains e-coupons, a product comparison engine, and integrated social features.

The company said it expects its online sales to grow between 9 and 12 percent in the coming year.
