Madrid-based multiformat grocery chain DIA has announced a new partnership with mobile solution provider AIRTAG. The program, dubbed "Diadiscount," includes a mobile wallet for ordering and payment, and a system of refrigerated lockers for customer pickup.
DIA is now using AIRTAG's AIRSHOP mobile commerce platform, which enables retailers to launch self-branded wallet apps with customized functionalities.
"We are very pleased to be working with DIA on this new innovation which simplifies everyday grocery shopping for DIA customers," AIRTAG CEO and co-founder Jérémie Leroyer said in the announcement. "The service allows customers to collect orders via the lockers, quickly and conveniently, which has remained a key challenge in the mobile-to-store customer journey. We look forward to the solution's rollout, and working alongside DIA in carving out a user-friendly mobile grocery experience."
With an iPhone app, Android app and mobile website, DIA customers can order their groceries from a choice of more than 1,300 products and pay online before arriving at the store. During the checkout process the customer chooses a preferred order pickup time. Upon store arrival the customer picks up the order from the refrigerated pickup lockers simply by entering their order confirmation number, which acts as the key to open the locker.
Diadiscount is now piloting in Paris. The first 300 customers that place an order using Diadiscount will receive a special prize when picking up their order as a thank-you from DIA for trying the new service.
