Hudson’s Bay named 'fastest-growing retailer' of 2014

The fastest-growing retailer in 2014 was Hudson’s Bay thanks to a 254-percent sales boost compared to 2013, with total sales hitting $5.1 billion.

A big part of the increase, according to STORES Magazine’s annual Hot 100 Retailers list, was due to Hudson’s Bay buying Saks. Coming in second was, which appeared on the list for the first time, according to a National Retail Federation announcement.

In third spot was another daily deal site, Zulily, which saw sales spike 73 percent in 2014, to hit $1.1 billion. In line next were G-II Apparel Group, Wayfair, AT&T, Office depot, Signet Jewelers, Men’s Wearhouse and Northern Tool and Equipment, respectively in the top 10.

The longest-enduring retailers on the list, which began in 2006, include Amazon which landed in the 18th spot, Dollar Tree at slot 57 and Dick’s Sporting Goods which landed at 53.
