Convenience chain 7-Eleven has cut about 880 U.S. corporate jobs.

The move comes a year after the brand's owner, Seven & i Holdings based in Japan, bought the rival chain Speedway, according to a CNBC report.

The company runs more than 13,000 stores in North America and about 9,500 are 7-Eleven branded locations.

"As with any merger, our integration approach includes assessing our combined organization structure," a 7-Eleven spokesperson told CNBC in an email. "The review was slowed by COVID-19 but is now complete, and we are finalizing the go-forward organization structure."
