Alphabet, parent company of Google, is aiming to launch drone delivery this week in the area of Dallas-Fort Worth.
It will mark the company's first drone delivery effort in a major U.S. city, according to an Engadget report.
"With this service, the DFW area will be the largest metro in the world, and the first in the United States, with access to on-demand drone delivery," a company spokesperson said in an email statement to the news outlet
The prime customer is Walgreens, and drones will be staged at store parking lots. The service will also deliver ice cream, Easyvet pet medications and first aid kits, according to the news report.
"This will be America's most scalable drone delivery operation to date, as Walgreens team members will process their own orders and load packages onto drones themselves — while Wing [drone company] oversees the delivery from a remote location," the company told the news outlet.
Deliveries will start on April 7 for residents in Frisco and Little Elm, north of Dallas.
