Amazon plans to boost its U.S. hourly starting wage to $18 an hour and aims to hire on 125,000 employees for warehouse and transportation units, according to a Reuters report.
The news comes as retailers are having a hard time hiring and increasing pay as a way to entice applicants.
Amazon is also offering bonuses of $3,000 to new hires, according to Reuters.
Earlier this week Walgreens announced it was raising its hourly pay to $15 come October.
