Amazon will now be serving up free same-day delivery into more than 750 cities and towns as it expands the service into Orlando, Florida’s metro areas and Chicago.

The expansion move also includes new targets in Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey, according to a company announcement.

The news comes at a time when online retailers are battling to win the ecommerce war, and new non-traditional players, such as ridesharing services like Uber, are getting into the mix in product and food delivery.

Amazon launched its free Prime same-day service back in May. Prime members can order up until noon and receive the order, which must be over $35, before late evening seven days a week. The Prime membership costs $99 for the year.

"We're focused on making Prime better and better and every day members discover how Prime FREE Same-Day Delivery can make their lives easier," said Greg Greeley, vice president of Amazon Prime, in the announcement.

The top popular item among same-day consumers include Crest #D White Luxe Strips and protein powder. In New York the top sellers include water filters, and in San Francisco the top item are bicycle locks. Inflatable water toys are top in Atlanta area.

Members have ordered more than 3,500 different board game titles and over 3,500 varieties of pet treats since the service’s launch.
