Online purchasing via a desktop or smartphone is passe, according to Amazon, which is propelling voice-activated ordering via its Echo device and Alexa's help.
Amazon is offering exclusive deals if orders are made through Echo, Echo Dot, and Amazon Tap. Also now through Prime Day (July 12), Prime members receive $10 off their first purchase on any eligible order over $20 when they shop using Alexa.
"The day has come where you no longer have to visit a screen to shop. I can be standing in my kitchen, when I realize I am almost out of coffee and simply say, 'Alexa, order Starbucks coffee' and it shows up at my door within two days." Assaf Ronen, Amazon's VP of voice shopping, said in a news release. "Our Alexa speech science engineers have made something so incredibly challenging appear effortless to customers. And so we are excited for Prime members to try it. Today through Prime Day, they will receive $10 off one purchase with Alexa."
Some of the deals Amazon announced consumers can purchase via Alexa include a Dromida Kodo UAV Quadcopter for $25 (38 percent off), an Amazon Tap for $79 (39 percent off) and a Cuisinart 5-in-1 Griddler for $40 (47 percent off).
