Amazon, Whole Foods expand grocery pickup at the curb

August 14, 2018

Amazon is launching curbside grocery pickup at its Whole Foods Market locations in Sacramento and Virgiinia Beach.

The two cities are just the start of a national rollout this year, according to a press release. Amazon Prime members can shop WholeFoods via the Prime Now app and pick up their order in as quick as a half hour without leaving their car.

"Pickup from Whole Foods Market is a perfect option for customers who want to grab healthy and organic groceries at their convenience, all without leaving their car," said Stephenie Landry, worldwide vice president of Prime Now, AmazonFresh and Amazon Restaurants, in the release. "A customer can order at 5:00 p.m., pick up at 5:30 p.m., and we'll have their groceries loaded into their car just minutes after arrival. For an even faster experience, customers can tell us they are on their way using the Prime Now app and groceries will be ready as they arrive."

Prime members place orders via the app and choose pickup at checkout — there's free pickup in as little as an hour on orders of $35, or in 30 minutes for $4.99. At the Whole Foods Market store, customers park in a reserved pickup spot and a Prime Now shopper places groceries into their car.

Pickup and delivery from Whole Foods Market is available daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
