Automated delivery robots from Hong Kong based Rice Robotics are making a splash in Asia, according to a CNN report. Highlights include:

  • The robots provide room service to guests at the Dorsett Wanchai hotel in Hong Kong.
  • They deliver snacks to SoftBank Group's headquarters in Tokyo from the building's 7-11 convenience store.
  • They delivered coffee to a cast member of a Cantonese TV series.

The robots have light sensors, ultrasound sensors and cameras to avoid obstacles.

The company has created a fleet management app for users.

In addition, clients are able to make infrastructure changes like programming the robots and elevators to communicate with each other.

The company also offers the robots on a monthly subscription service, which includes onsite support.
