Avon steps into franchising in UK

Beauty product retailer Avon is launching stores in the U.K.

The physical stores are the latest in the company's 137-year history, according to a report at The Guardian. The brand has been operating storefronts in Turkey for three years.

Avon has long been a door-to-door retail strategy buoyed by in-home parties held by Avon sellers.

But the COVID-19 pandemic forced the retailer to change up its business strategy as its 5 million sellers couldn't go door to door for over a year.

The U.K. stores, which showcase about 150 items, will open in the next two months as franchise locations.

"We are on the cusp of new frontiers for Avon," Angela Cretu, Avon International global CEO told The Guardian. "It is an exciting new chapter. Women like to touch and experience the product and have that joy of seeing all the colors available."
