While the infamous blue 20% off coupons aren't in play at Bed Bath & Beyond as it liquidates stores as part of its bankruptcy activity, the coupons are being welcomed by retail competitors.
Big Lots and the Container Store have announced they will honor BB&B coupons for a short timeframe, according to published reports.
The prime reason Bed Bath & Beyond cut off coupon use as it closes stores is because its creditors are striving to make as much money as possible before the retailer shutters the doors, according to a CNN report, and the brand suppliers don't want deep discounts to hurt their image.
A Numerator survey of 500 verified BB&B shoppers, conducted on April 24, revealed 61% are upset about the closure and once stores shut 68% plan to turn to Amazon for products they would have bought at the failing retailer. Other retailers they plan to turn to include Target, Walmart, Home Goods as well as At Home, Macy's and Wayfair, according to a press release.
