Retailer Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. is adding three benefit programs for associates including an associate relief fund.
It has also announced it will close stores on Thanksgiving Day, following on the heels of other big brands including Walmart.
The expanded paid benefit programs include parental leave and short-term disability, according to a press release.
The benefit news comes as the retail segment faces a worker shortage and many brands are increasing wages and benefits to entice new hires.
"Our purpose is to make it easy to feel at home, and that begins right here with our associates and making investments that elevate our people-powered culture," Lynda Markoe, EVP and chief people and culture office, said in the release. "We're thrilled to implement these new company-paid programs to support the well-being of our associates and their loved ones. As we look ahead to Thanksgiving and a return to a 'new-normal,' we want our associates to be home, happier and be able to welcome friends and family into their homes."
