Investor's Business Daily: Circuit City customers have been able to buy something online and pick it up at their closest retail location since the early dot-com days. That's what now happens with more than half of the online purchases made at the electronics retailer's Web site. Sears stores have offered such an option since 2001.
So why aren't more retailers doing this? Many would like to, but fewer than 30 percent are able to even show online what items are in which stores, according to Forrester Research analyst Brian Walker.
