Chewy expanding automated fulfillment to save money

Chewy, an online pet retailer, aims to open two automated fulfillment centers to save money, boost safety and increase capacity.

The additional center, which will open within the next 15 months, will bring its automated center fleet to five, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

The initial three are located in Pennsylvania, Missouri and Nevada.

The retailer said it projects a 50% jump in labor productivity in the automated centers.
