The arrival of winter, and need for winter coats, is making for healthy financials for Macy's.
A surge in outerwear sales is putting the brand on good footing going into the holiday season, according to a Bloomberg report.
As of 7 a.m., Black Friday Macy's had sold 200,000 coats, Macy's CEO Jeff Gennette told Bloomberg Television.
The holiday boon is due, in part, to the fact consumers like shopping at a brick-and-mortar over the popular Black Friday holiday shopping weekend, said Gennette.
"Customers today want to go to a store — the sights, the smells, the sounds," he told Bloomberg. "How you can create that in a department store is a unique opportunity that we have."
