Consumers spent big in April thanks to tax refunds, income jump

May 31, 2017

Healthier salaries and tax refunds spurred big consumer spending in April resulting in a 0.4 percent jump.

The increase is the most robust since December 2016, according to a Market Watch report. In addition, income increased 0.4 percent for the same month.

The figures indicate that the country's economy is expanding faster in the second quarter of the year, the report said.
