A Costco shopper has filed a lawsuit in an Illinois federal court seeking any refund the wholesaler receives from tariff refund actions.
The suit could lead to a nationwide class action lawsuit, according to a Fox Business report.
The news comes after Costco filed its own lawsuit in early December, 2025 over President Donald Trump's tariff policy actions which began in January 2025. Costco is one of 20,000-plus companies that have filed suit over the tariffs, according to the news report.
The shopper's lawsuit comes on the heels of a February 20 ruling by the Supreme Court that struck down Trump's tariffs enacted under 1977 International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
Earlier this month two dozen states filed suit against the Trump administration over the latest tariff move by President Donald Trump.
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection, a federal government agency, is revamping its system to process refunds related to the tariffs imposed by President Trump over the past 15 months.
The suit states Costco must return to customers any refunds it receives for tariffs Costco had paid due to the past year's tariffs.
