More than half of U.S. households, 60%, shopped at a Dollar General store at least once in 2024 and and the discount brand enjoyed an 80% repeat rate for customers.

Those are findings from a Numerator report, "Retailer, Restaurant & Brand Snapshots," offering a quick look at key shopping metrics and shopper profiles for a variety of US retailers including Dollar General and Dollar Tree, which is in the process selling off its Family Dollar stores.

The average Dollar General shopper spent $522 at the brand last year, making 27 purchases and shoppers are 19% more likely to be Baby Boomers, according to a press release on the findings.

At Dollar Tree the average shopper spent $290 in 2024, making 20 purchases and 79% of U.S. households hit a Dollar Tree location at least once last year. The brand saw an 85% repeat shopper rate.
