An unknown number of Etsy shop keepers are asking customers to boycott the marketplace from April 11 through April 18 in protest of increasing transaction fees.
Etsy, in February, announced the fees were increasing from 5% to 6.5%, a 30% spike, according to a report at The Verge.
In response thousands of shop owners will suspend sales and are pushing for consumers to not buy on the platform. A petition campaign protesting the new fee garnered 15,000 signatures in one week, according to the news report, and more than 5,000 sellers plan to strike.
