Facebook announced in a blog post this week that it is testing "a new feature to help businesses drive sales through Facebook in News Feed and on Pages." In other words, the social networking giant is adding a "buy" button.
In the post, the company attempted to get out in front of any concerns about payment security, saying that no payment information will be shared with other advertisers. Customers are given the option to store their payment information in their Facebook account, though.
The test is being conducted with "a few small and medium-size businesses in the US," the company said. It gave this screenshot as an example of how the button and pricing information would be positioned within a post:
