FedEx and Walgreens are piloting a new package distribution strategy involving 8,000 Walgreens locations.
FedEx, according to a Commercial Appeal report, will do pickups and drop-offs at the stores starting in the fall of 2018 and is launching a small rollout this spring. Customers will be able to drop off pre-labeled packages at the store and pick up shipments they have had sent to the Walgreen location.
"Walgreens, with its strong focus on customer care, is the perfect retailer to help us continue to meet the growing demand for convenient, secure drop off and pickup options, and our research has shown that customers rank pharmacies as a preferred location for accessing their e-commerce shipments," Raj Subramaniam, FedEx EVP, chief marketing and communications officer, told Commercial Appeal.
