Food, gifts top Father’s Day shopping list

This Father's Day consumers are all about eating, dining and finding gift items on sale.

More than three-quarters, 79%, will celebrate the annual holiday and the top plan involves barbecuing (42%), cooking (34%) and dining out (27%).

Those are findings from a Numerator survey of nearly 2,650 consumers, according to a press release.

Just about more than half, 51%, of dads want to spend the day with family and 46% want to share a family meal.

The top shopping items include food (64%) and gifts (57%). And, when it comes to gifts, 42% of consumers plan to buy gift items that are on sale and 23% will use more coupons.

Among those intending to purchase gifts, the top choices are gift cards (35%), apparel (32%) and tools or home improvement materials (27%).
