International developer Intel appears to be engaging the world of cryptocurrency with a job listing for a cryptocurrency researcher. According to the job posting, the primary job of the candidate would be to "Investigate hardware and software capabilities that advance the performance, robustness, and scalability of open, decentralised ledgers."

Yessi Bello Perez, reporter for Coindesk, wrote in a Coindesk article that Intel is particularly looking for candidates who can develop software that can utilize “cryptographic algorithms.” They also want the candidate to investigate the potential of blockchain and peer-to-peer technology to be used outside of mainly bitcoin transactions.

Other major tech corporations have also expressed interest in virtual currencies and the technology behind them. For example, IBM is currently working on developing a system to accept and process traditional currency payments by utilizing blockchain technology.

The job listing was posted on the Intel Lab, the company’s primary research department.
