Fashion retailer J.Crew has launched an immersive virtual store that offers a 3D experience in celebration of the retailer's 40th anniversary.
The store is in the form of a beach house featuring six unique rooms and a boathouse and is powered by Obsess' experiential e-commerce platform, according to a press release.
The virtual beach house provides interactive content highlighting the brand's heritage as well as gamified elements and a seamless checkout.
"We are excited to celebrate J.Crew's 40th anniversary with the launch of the J.Crew Virtual Beach House in partnership with Obsess," Derek Yarbrough, CMO of J.Crew and Madewell, said in the release. "This immersive experience brings J.Crew's past and present together, giving our customers a virtual passport to explore the world of J.Crew, while shopping a curated edit of summer styles in an innovative digital format."
The experience enables shoppers to discover J.Crew clothing, shoes and accessories in themed rooms with contextual merchandising that allows them to learn more about the products. For example, customers can visit the Floral Room and shop for Made-in-Spain espadrilles after learning about the 14th-century origin of the shoe's design. The Virtual Beach House also features images from the brand's storied catalogs and a highly engaging Catalog Cover Pop Quiz in addition to a multi-room, interactive scavenger hunt game.
J.Crew Group operates 123 J.Crew retail stores, 153 Madewell stores, and 200 J.Crew Factory stores in nearly every state in the U.S.
