Retailer J.C. Penney Co. has hired two technology leaders who will be focused on improving its digital strategy.
Sharmeelee Bala is CIO and will be responsible for the digital footprint. Katie Mullen is chief digital and transformation officer and will be focused on e-commerce and enterprise strategy.
Bala previously worked for Gapt Inc., while Robert Kreft, interim CIO, will remain with the company.
Mullen was the chief digital officer at Neiman Marcus Group, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
