JCPenney to close nearly 30 stores this year

In early January the J. C. Penney Company announced it would close three stores this year, and now the retailer is expanding the list to the 18 mark and expects the final closure tally to hit 27 by year's end.

The retailer is making the move as part of a "standard annual review," according to a Today report.

The closures include nine furniture and home stores that will shutter in the fall. Most stores will close by early July, according to the report.
