Kohl’s in sale talks with retail holding firm

Kohl's Corp. and Franchise Group Inc. are in "advanced" talks regarding an acquisition that may value the retailer at about $8 billion.

If sold Kohl's would fall under Franchise Group's brand umbrella, which includes Vitamin Shoppe, according to a Wall Street Journal report.

Franchise Group said it's in "exclusive" talks for a three-week period and it's competing for Kohl's with Sycamore Partners, a private equity firm, according to the news report.
