Lidl expanding big on Long Island

Discount grocer Lidl expects to open 24 stores on Long Island this year and the expansion may just be the beginning toward launching 50 locations.

The supermarket opened three stores in Long Island, New York in December, according to a Supermarket News report. Some locations are brand new and others are acquired stores converted from competitors.

The expansion news comes after Lidl acquired Best Market in 2018 which involved 27 locations.
