Consumers expect 59% of their holiday spending this year on key sales dates, including Black Friday and Cyber Monday, will take place online versus in the store.

It's a slight uptick from 53% last year.

The figure is from research released by CiscoAppDynamics. The data also revealed online shoppers will be less forgiving than normal if retailers don't deliver a seamless digital experience – 66% said it doesn't matter how good the deals are if the online experience is poor, according to a blog post on the research results.

The research, which polled more than 12,000 consumers in 12 countries, also revealed 64% of those polled stated that if the applications and digital services they use for holiday shopping fail to perform, it will leave them feeling anxious and angry.
