More than one third of consumers spending less this holiday season

One in three American are considering going into credit card debt for holiday gifts this year, while 34% will consider hitting their savings and one in three may start a side job to offset the costs.

Those are findings from Trustpilot's "Holiday Trust in Spending survey" that also revealed 41% of consumers are considering using Buy No Pay Later, according to a press release on the findings.

On average, Americans who shopped during the 2022 holiday season intend to spend 39% less this year.

As for pain points, frustrations from 2022 include a lack of communication during the shipping process (57%), lost or damaged packages (51%), delayed packages (49%) and unpleasant delivery people (41%). Consumers are also placing blame on the retailer (37%) and brand (25%).
