Pet Supplies Plus acquiring Pet Valu stores, rebranding begins

Pet Supplies Plus is acquiring about 40 Pet Valu locations across several states and rebranding the stores as Pet Supplies Plus locations.

The first batch of rebranded stores should be in place by January, according to a press release. The locations are located throughout Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.

The news comes after Pet Value announced it was closing all U.S. operations, which included its 358 stores.

Pet Supplies Plus, with over 500 stores in 35 states, is known for its neighborhood friendliness and Minus the hassle shopping experience.

The former Pet Valu stores will be a mix of corporate and franchisee-owned Pet Supplies Plus locations, according to the release.

"I would like to extend gratitude to the Pet Valu team, who have been nothing but professional and supportive throughout this entire process," Nick Russo, senior vice president of franchising and store operations for Pet Supplies Plus, said in the release. "This exemplifies the type of culture Pet Valu has developed, and we are excited to offer many Pet Valu associates a new home with us."
