Trader Joe's is one of three brands that sold pistachios linked to a Salmonella strain that hit 11 consumers across nine states between December and February, according to a Reuters report.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports Wonderful Pistachios, of California, is recalling some nuts in a voluntary effort given the illness reported. The nuts were sold under Trader Joe’s brand names as well as Wonderful and Paramount Farms.

The federal agency stated there have been no deaths related to the Salmonella incidents though two people were hospitalized. Illness reports were in Arizona, North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan, Virginal, Georgia, Alabama, Washington, and Connecticut, according to the CDC.

"This investigation is ongoing, and we will update the public when more information becomes available," a CDC statement noted, according to ABC News.

Salmonella can bring on vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever, and is typically found in raw or undercooked meat and eggs.

"Wonderful Pistachios takes food safety matters very seriously and is working closely with health officials to identify the source of the problem. In an effort to further enhance our food safety program and ensure the health and wellbeing of our consumers, we have, effective immediately, proactively increased our sampling frequencies and lot size testing," states Wonderful Company in an announcement, according to ABC News. "The implementation of these augmented safety protocols further exceeds established industry best practices and bolsters our long-standing commitment to producing the highest quality, most wholesome and safest pistachios in the world."
