Redbox to get Paramount DVDs on day of release

According to Andrew Stewart of Variety, Paramount Home Entertainment and redbox have announced a joint licensing agreement that will make Paramount titles available in kiosks on the same day the DVDs and Blu-rays are released in stores. Stewart later reported that the agreement, which runs through 2011, represents a departure from redbox deals with Universal, Warners and Fox. Those deals require redbox to wait 28 days until after titles hit DVD shelves before making rentals available.
