A hefty number of retail employees, 80%, want more proactive well-being support from brands and a third of retail professionals report excessive stress and anxiety and claim work is causing a mental health decline.

Those are findings from a U.K.-based health, well-being and habits study polling 1,000 employees conducted by vape retailer Vape Club.

The study also revealed 37% of retail employees are experiencing significant physical health issues and 41% said they would be more productive in their roles if employees implemented changes supporting their well-being.

"Burnout is a state of emotional, physical and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. Pressure at work is usually the main culprit and when budgets are tight and teams are small, people often find themselves with multiple roles and heavy workloads, piling on the stress," Richard Holmes, director of well-being at Westfield Health, said in a press release citing the findings.
