Retailers understand the value proposition of AI and location intelligence technologies, but they don't expect it to fundamentally change their business.
That's a prime finding from Retail Systems Research, LLC's study regarding retail adoption of location intelligence.
More than half (58%) of retailers believe AI will improve insights over the next three years, and 75% believe it will help them meet the needs of mobile consumers, according to a press release.
"It is important to shed some light on what we at RSR are calling 'the AI situation.' The most overused word of our time, AI is being used to position all types of solutions — sometimes legitimately, and oftentimes not. But when it comes to AI within localization technologies, retail winners are leading the way," said Brian Kilcourse, managing partner, RSR, in the release. "Amidst the hype, they are taking a more tempered approach. Retail winners recognize that the undeniably powerful asset of AI will improve customer insights that inform the way they do business — but not transform the business itself. At least not in the next few years."
