Sears and Kmart have announced an online/in-store collaboration to allow pickup of sears.com or kmart.com orders at any of each other's stores.
"Sears was the first broadline retailer to provide the convenience of free buy online pick up in store more than 12 years ago, and we continue to introduce integrated offerings to help our members shop on their own terms," said Imran Jooma, executive vice president of Sears Holdings. "Leveraging the breadth of both Sears and Kmart's online and in-store networks means more convenience for members and opens an even wider brand-name product selection available to fans of both stores."
For example, a customer might want to purchase school supplies from Kmart, but a Sears store is much closer to their home than the nearest Kmart. Now that customer can buy online at kmart.com and pick up at a Sears store. Conversely, a customer might need a particular Craftsman power tool from Sears. The customer can order the tool online at sears.com and pick it up for free at any nearby Kmart store.
