Sears will shutter 142 more stores and launch an extensive liquidation sales event as part of a bankruptcy filing announced Monday.
The news comes as no surprise to those in the retail segment as Sears has been on the decline for the past few years, already having closed hundreds of locations. Yet, according to Business Insider, the beleaguered retailer described the store closings as a part of a "strategic transformation," with an intention to regain its footing.
It plans to keep stores operating through the holiday season as well as its online presence.
