The majority of Gen Z (91%) and millennials (84%) have bought something they saw on a social media channel as have 3 in 4 Gen X consumers and just over half of Baby Boomers.
Those are findings from a Citizens Pay survey of U.S. adults, according to a press release.
Additional findings include:
- 29% of Americans purchased directly through a social media link, including 48% of Gen Z and 38% of millennials. Others purchased an item after researching it online (39%) or after they saw it in a store later (20%).
- 72% of Americans have bought an item online from the comfort of their bed and 31% have clicked "add to cart" from a bathroom.
- 16% of employed Americans have shopped online during a work meeting, including 26% of employed millennials.
